Medical Director

George Harpur is the Medical Director of the Tobermory Hyperbaric Facility, a Coroner for the Province of Ontario, and has been closely associated with Tobermory Health Services since 1974.

Dr. Ali Appelton

Dr. Ali Appelton

Ali Appelton has a Bsc. from McGill University in Physical Sciences. She earned her Medical degree and Family Medicine Residency from the University of Toronto. She has her PADI Open Water Dive Certification and has enjoyed Scuba Diving in various locations around the globe. She completed the Canadian Armed Forces, Department of Research and Defence, Dive Medicine Course and has assisted in the initial triage and management of dive injured patients in Tobermory.

Dr. Jon Thomas

Dr. Jon Thomas

Dr. Jonathan B. Thomas is a family physician working in a rural setting on the Bruce Peninsula with the Peninsula Family Health Team. In addition, he is an attending physician at the Golden Dawn Senior Citizen Home, works in the Emergency Department at Lion’s Head Hospital while also working with the South West Primary Care Network as a Primary Care Colead. He obtained an HBSc and MSc in Medical Biophysics from University of Western Ontario, with MD from Queens University while completing Residency at the University of Toronto. He has completed the Canadian Armed Forces, Department of Research and Defence, Dive Medicine Course and assists in triage and management of dive injured patients in Tobermory.

Dr. Ralph Suke

Dr. Ralph Suke

Dr. Suke completed his Master’s of Engineering at McMaster University in Hamilton in 1976. After a year of working as an engineer he completed his MD Degree in 1979, and Family Practice Degree at McMaster University in 1981. In June of 1981 he set up practice in Tobermory providing Family Practice, Emergency Services qualified SCUBA instructor he now added training in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine. As Assistant Director of the Tobermory Hyperbaric Facility he saw and treated numerous diving injuries as well as medical problems amenable to Hyperbaric Treatment. He also participated in conducting and publishing a number of articles and studies related to hyperbaric medicine. He currently provides cardiac stress testing at the Tobermory Health Clinic and remains on-call for hyperbaric treatments in Tobermory.
